Sell Your Programs... Without Selling Out

How do you stay in line with your organization's feminist values and still ensure that you raise the funds necessary to keep your projects happening?

I'm here to help.

The Girl:

I'm a bilingual (English/Spanish) freelance grant writer specializing in federal, corporate, and foundation grant writing, for local and international women and gender focused non-profits/NGOs.

The Goods:

  • Persuasive, compelling grant proposals
  • Research to identify funders aligned with your values

Why Feminist Grant Writing?

These days, it seems that all foundations care about are numbers. The more people you serve the better, regardless of how meaningful that change is, or how long it lasts. For those of us making change happen on the ground, competing for limited funds is a challenge made harder by the fact that funders don't seem to understand the essence of our work. It can often feel like the only way to get funding is by pandering or telling stories that present our participants as victims, which goes against the very nature of what we are trying to accomplish.

I excel at securing stakeholder investment for mission driven organizations through persuasive, compelling prose. With a background in feminist methodology, I bring gender-sensitivity, non-violence and a feminist lens to my writing, producing winning grant proposals that attract funders without portraying local communities in a patronizing and dis-empowering way. I've worked throughout the United States and Latin America, and have a proven track record of consistently procuring large grants for feminist-minded organizations.

Finding Funders Aligned with Your Values
It is always shocking to find out that an organization or project you support is being funded by an entity responsible for creating or perpetuating systems of inequality. Nothing turns supporters away faster than finding out their favorite Wildlife Rescue organization is being backed by Haliburton. Don't let this happen to you!
As a Feminist grant writer, I am familiar with a wide range of funding sources, including foundations, corporations and individuals who are committed to gender equality and social justice... and practice what they preach. Seeking funding from these organizations not only ensures that your fundraising is socially responsible, it also improves your chances of success by matching your needs and values with those of the funder.
